  • Popularity is what will get apps for foldable devices rolling. If its at a price point that only niche users can buy it, its never gonna get the developer support it needs because theres no demand to build apps for it. If companies want this to actually catch on, and make a new market segment for them, they will have to eat the rnd cost and sell in normal price range.

  • Was liking the idea of this thing... until I actually thought about it. It's like it's having an existential crisis where it's trying to be something it's not -- or moreso two things that it's not. I've never found the need for a tablet, especially one that's chonktastic like that. I had one for like a year, and used it a handful of times.. And as a laptop, it's so small that you could never get actual meanful work done on it (unless you have tiny hands). I mean, it would be cool to have the option of doing both things... but I thought what about the shitty ass Dell touch screen all in one that I have. 🤷‍♂️ It's cool to see the tech advance, and Lenovo seems to have a good grip on it -- but the full actual use case is still a little flimsy for me personally. It'll be interesting to see what Apple decides to do for a foldable screen device 🤔

  • Why not putting an ARM CPU in it? The Intel L series CPU is EXTREMELY slow and only has one high performance core (plus 4 efficiency cores of the Intel atom architecture), while consuming 7 watts. But for example the Apple M1 is 5 times faster in geekbench and only consumes 19 watts. (It also needs no fan) so pls use ARM CPUs

  • If that was a bit cheaper I would consider it I love my iPad but sometimes I wish I could do some basic typing on it that I didn’t have to make it a two piece device I would prefer the iPad to convert into a laptop but I don’t want to upgrade my iPad to a better iPad with the keyboard case because it doesn’t support mouse the same way that this one does

  • Folding devices are the way forward. The limiting factor of today's phones and tablets is small screen size. They are fine for content consumption but you can't be productive on them. It's just a matter of time before the tech becomes more accessible in terms of price. Love the Bluetooth keyboard!

  • This video really reminded me of when I bought my Macbook with a touch bar and the Apple representative was explaining that the touch bar while it is a small thing now is a preview of things Apple might have planned like the whole keyboard basically being a touch screen. I was like "isn't that just two Ipads on hinges then?" I also think it's super reminiscent of DS devices but now the screen part is just getting bigger and overtaking the buttons, as is what's generally happening to all forms of technology. The problem is that the idea that I'm pressing a button without actually having the sensory experience of pushing a button really doesn't work well with my brain, to the point where I HATE the MacBook keyboard and similar keyboards with very small buttons. I still think this tech is super cool, but I'd probably have to dish out extra money just to take around a keyboard that doesn't mess with my head along with it.

  • Neat concept, but the risk of dropping and the lack of shockproof makes me think this is more of a gimmick. Definitely need interchangeable pieces of glass/screen. Not one solid screen. Needs to be a simpler glass and not computer techintegrated so changing or swapping out won't be so diffucult.

    Leonardo MartinsLeonardo Martins28 dögum síðan
  • oof, that's quite the pricetag. Not sure if it's worth that much, but, it's interesting to think about this being the future of tablets. they can get more screen size for the tablet, without making it super large and unwieldly. This, maybe too much for what you're getting, but it's a "this could very easily be the future" moment.

  • About your question: Probably not, at least not any time soon. I've been using a Surface Book 2 and a Surface Go 2 (and before that a Pro 4) for years now ... and I have to say, I'll switch back to a desktop (I used the Book with Dock for that before) and a light laptop + tablet in the future... Unless we can really improve the systems so that you come to a point where you really don't feel a difference in most applications (which I still do for the things I need to do on a daily basis) ... might also switch to apple for the tablets because fuck tablet mode for win10. It's so bad + the store is trash.

    Lucas FultonLucas FultonMánuði síðan
    • @Mr. Dingy are smartphones about portability? I’m not so sure about that. And anyway, regular sized smartphones should fit in your pockets anyway. The point is to have a regular sized smartphone of regular thinness that should be able to fit out pockets; then it rolls out into more of a tablet size Also, your grammar sucks

      Lucas FultonLucas Fulton11 dögum síðan
    • If it rools where would you put it? Pocket ? It wont fit. The hole thing abot smartphones is portability, and thats also why some companys will go the foldable route, as if the get slimmer, what once occuped your whole pocket will now occupy half. im jk belive what you want
