  • Was vaguely aware of this band, the review made me have a listen to them, I was unaware they were actually excellent. Their name made me think they might be a dismal novelty act.

  • First time listening to them and I must say I was expecting dubstep or something else (never listened to kglw). This may not be there best but it’s my favorite album for the year so far and I listened to the first 4 several times. It’s a pretty cool album and I’m gonna listen to the rest of their discography.

  • Ataraxia and Supreme Ascendancy are easily two of the strongest tracks on the album in my opinion, so though I don't agree with your opinion in any way, shape, or form, I respect it either way and kinda agree with the 7, though I personally rate it to be an 8.

  • The album lacks cohesion, the middle bunch of the tracks are pretty uninspiring. “If not now then when” and the album closer are undoubtedly the highlights, especially the former really making the most of their new approach to production with colourful instrumentation and interesting composition. Feeling a 6/10 all together

  • K.G. is a lot more varied than L.W.. K.G. has Honey, The Hungry Wolf of Fate (which is the better of the two doom songs), Ontology, and their most unique song in their discography, Intrasport. L.W. just feels like K.G. B-sides, with less variation and mostly just rock songs.

    elvisman2000elvisman2000Mánuði síðan
  • Weird I had such opposite opinions about this record. I thought kg was a way more captivating record abd to me alot of these felt like some offcuts of the last record with much less diversity with my favourite tracks being “if not now then when” “pleura” and “kglw”. “One” just felt like automation from the last record with just a different hook and I felt the same for alot of the tracks. This might just be because I’ve listened to kg too much so I’m a little bit bored of the sound, idk.

  • I love king gizzard, and the album is good. But im not gonna lie, im kinda getting burnt out on all the microtonal stuff. Especially since its not actually getting better, if anything, i think each microtonal album gets progressively less great. I dont need them to blow my mind with newness every album, but at least change it up. Thats why i maintain that gumboot soup is them at their peak. Its nearly every style they do on a single record

  • As a longtime king gizzard fan, I gotta say this is easily my least favorite album of theirs. Too many of these ideas are reused and beaten into the ground or just half baked. The production feels really cheesy at points and is overly injected with midi samples that don't really complement the natural feel of microtonal instrumentation. The creative and skillful musicianship is mostly there, but the songwriting is there only on a few tracks. Nothing really jumps out, only a few tracks are worth revisiting, and the album as a whole feels like a chore to listen to. Honestly sits at a 4 or 5 for me. Also the cover is really ugly.
