  • I don't think Enola outsmarted Sherlock in the film. I think Sherlock wanted Enola to solve the case. By the time he goes to report it at the end of the film he already knows, Enola had met the boy and that she was investigating the case. That's why he had his "dipping your toes in the water" conversation with her. Of course he couldn't leave it to chance that she would follow through with his suggestion so he had to report it in the end, I am pretty sure he could have solved the case at any moment. His laugh as he left was in celebration that Enola solved it without his help.

  • I found Enola Holmes enjoyable but the way the movie tried to hint at a possible romance between Enola and Tewkesbury seemed far fetched and also sudden for what I believe they were trying to make Enola's character be. I would have thought Tewkesbury could be her "Watson" in the next movies as it was shown Enola has gaps in her knowledge/skills and Tewkesbury's could serve as the partner-in-crime in the sequels filling in those gaps, not a love interest. Where their care/love for each other will only extend like close friends, almost like brothers in arms. I am hopeful for the possible sequel for Enola Holmes, but I hope they drop any attempts at love interests, unless she meets a rival maybe or her version of Moriarty where they have a conflicting path but the way their character think makes them able to relate to each other, hence a love-hate relationship. A forbidden one so to speak as the "moriarty" of Enola would serve to destroy the society/world she is living in.

  • Hopefully, they make sequels because there are some hilarious escapes that Enola makes from Mycroft in the films plus she has to drag Sherlock Holmes out of a ditch that he got himself trapped him and takes care of his sprained ankle as well. Mycroft ends up covered in a wedding dress at some point. She boots him in the knee to get away from him on another attempt. Plus, she saves Dr. Watson and returns him home then has a run in with Sherlock who doesn't recognize her. Then he and Enola play a trick on Mycroft in the last book until he calls her an untrained animal. Enola breaks her cover and starts laughing.

  • Yet another female who has come out of the clear blue to destroy another great male character! Recently, it was revealed that Bill & Ted were never the heroes of the story. Turns out, that it was their daughters...who, by the way, seemed to be baby boys at the end of part two, but turned into women because of course they did! Ocean's Eleven was also NOT good enough, so women had to take over and save the franchise. We all know the Ghost Busters were just average as men, so the women had to come in and show the entire world who's boss...a blind MAN could see the Terminator was flawed, so a female Kyle Reese and female salvation of the world, had to be created in order to fix things...Of course, my favorite was Jon Snow staring the Night King in the face for 8-seasons only to stand aside so a woman could kill him properly! Sadly, the new Coming to America film will have us follow the whacky adventures of King Akeem's daughter who will be, you guessed it, "Coming to America" same as he did thirty-two years ago. And now, it turns out that Sherlock Holmes wasn't the greatest detective after all...Well, not as long as he has a sister who is better at sleuthing than he is! I'm pretty sure that somewhere down the line, we'll learn of a grand daughter that Indian Jones had, one he didn't even know he had, but to our amazement, she will turn out to be more bad ass than he ever was....And, who knows, maybe in the upcoming Matrix sequel it will probably be revealed that Trinity, was "The One" along! I am wondering if it would be easier for Hollywood to come to my house and cut off my dick, or if I should swing over by them!

  • There were literally no unexpected twists in this movie. It took 7 minutes to determine the entire storyline and another 3 mins to determine who was trying to kill him. This movie was not up to snuff as far as being a mystery. It just wasnt. Also, Sherlock clearly figured it all out on seeing the newspaper article. It isnt like it was difficult. Him acting surprised that Enola reported it to Scotland Yard at the end was entirely out of character. There were too many indicators that he had solved it. They should have just had him acknowledge her for determining the culprit and been done with it. The end was silly. Also, there are major plot holes such as the Grandmother being done in (caught) at the end. Was she? They didnt restrain her. She could have simply called staff to kill the Marquis and Enola. It isnt like there was a phone to call the police. They couldn't have escaped. Also, the grandmither could have simply reloaded. Its all rather silly.

  • The movie was awesome, fast moving and built up some things to the point I was siting on the edge of my seat and could not stop watching. I was so disappointed at the end, it was so anticlimactic. The only way I can excuse it would be if there was a sequel. Why set up all that with her mother if they were not going to do anything? I can see in the next movie Enola still having to stop her mom from doing something drastic and that is the only way having that plot line in the movie would make sense. Then there is her mom promising that if Enola needed help she would be there, how many times has Enola been nearly killed or put in bad situations during the movie and her mom did nothing to help her then. A lot of it could have been prevented if her mom was better organized. It just ticks me off. Her mom set it up so that Enola was put in a school that was against everything her mom stood for. Why? That was the thing about this movie that made the least amount of sense to me. Her mom is supposed to be smart and has been planning this for about sixteen years, so why did she not arrange for one of the women to house Enola? Why did she not go over a emergency plan just in case something happened to her? Why not give her some essential everyday life skills before setting Enola up to be left on her own? Her mom saying that it all was for Enola's future seems like a moot point when you think about it.

    • @bazzap I have been doing more research since I posted and apparently the bombs were something that the film maker added. Apparently a lot of the stuff that did not make sense are stuff that the film maker added. ispast.info/losk/v-deo/qZCwgGrJu4OwnZw.html Those documents confused me too. After watching the movie a second time it appears that was a clue he left to mislead who ever was following him and it was a coincidence. Still it is too weird for a coincidence and one that needs to be asked about and I was surprised when it was not.

      tohrurikkutohrurikku2 mánuðum síðan

  • Sadly, this is another case of "the book is better than the movie". I can understand if a movie makes changes on a book, but in this case all the changes were for the worse. There are two changes that I really didn't like. 1. Enola Holmes got caught. In the book, this didn't happen. I won't spoil anything specific, though the book's been out for ages, but I will say Enola narrowly avoided Sherlock at the end in a police station, and hadn't got caught at any point in the book. In the movie, she got caught merely for the sake of drama, but this was shortsighted. I think the Enola-Sherlock chases are the best bits about the books, in addition to a couple of conversation between them when the opportunity arises. Not only did we not get to see her escape from Sherlock at the end of the movie, but it's not clear if he'll be chasing her in the future, though it seems like he will. Even if he does, the tension is gone from it. Even if does catch her, what then? She would become his ward, which isn't so terrible. The worse case would be she gets sent back to boarding school, which isn't Sherlock's intention and in which case she could simply walks out again. It's a shame, but they've spoiled things for future movies. 2. The mystery surrounding the Marquess. Without spoiling anything, the mystery fit in well with the Sherlock Holmes stories in the book. In the movie, it was altered to become a cheap political story, with a conservative grandmother trying to murder her progressive grandson to defeat an unexplained reform bill that would apparently be decided by one single vote. There were plenty of other changes, but those are the two I find really galling. I would also like to mention that the Marquess was aged up in the movie, from 12 to 16, to become a love interest to Enola, and although I didn't mind that for this one movie, I don't want him inserting himself into the whole series. That's just more change than I think should be tolerated, as it would turn the series into a big old love story, which it wasn't and which isn't very Holmesian. I'm also not sure that I like the idea of Enola's mother leaving a become a feminist terrorist, or the meeting at the of the movie instead of leaving the mystery of her disappearance a more open-ended one.

  • I had never heard of the book series before, so I had especially no expectations at all. But when the credits rolled, I was so delighted. • Wow, it is amazing how this movies tranlates Enola from Arthur Conan Doyes sherlock Holmes novels onto the screen!!! Just like he wrote......um wait a minute!!!

  • OKAY THIS IS WHAT THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT FOR ALL OF YOU YOUNG PEOPLE! back in the 1800's woman didnt have the rights that men did, they couldnt vote, and womans lives were controlled by people, just like when enola went to a boarding school and they were taching her how to do a lady like laugh, and keep her head up high while she walks...her mother didnt like that and she wanted to change the world and make woman have rights, so on enola's 16th birthday her mother was gone....doing things with the government and changing stuff for woman. Her mother gave her a present with clues in it to find her. the reason her mother did that while she was gone, is because she wanted to put enola to the test to see if she could be independent, and figure stuff out on her own. NOW......whats the deal with Tewksbury you may ask, well the reason he ran away from his parents is because they were forcing him to do things he didnt want, and they wanted him to run with the government and be a lord. he didnt want that. so he ran away to be free. enola and him found eachother on the train and decided to help eachother with each of their probloms. then finally enola's mother comes back and says sorry for not telling her where she has been. at the end she says an important message, "my life is MY OWN, and the future is up to us" saying that woman have the right to be on their own and not have anyone controll their lives. I REALLY HOPE this helped you with understanding

  • This movie kinda sucked. Tried to watch it again and I couldn't get through it. The plot line is tepid. The cinematography is very average. You can tell that the script never really established itself. The whole thing just moves way too quickly... like waay too quickly, and yet it's 2hrs long.

  • Good summary but what about the “Ending explained” thing?

  • The Ending was not explained at all in this video. All you did was recap the entire film using exact words the film used. I really don’t understand the ending and what her mother was hiding from and why she had to leave without saying goodbye in the first place..... I was hoping you were going to address that.

    • The Grandma was in Rising Damp, an old Sitcom where I first saw her. She was also in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Madame Olympe Maxime, the headmistress of Beauxbatons. Perhaps it was there you saw her?
